Today, Nintendo announced that, since March of this year, My Nintendo gold points can be used to purchase content in the eShop. The bad news? The promotion will only be valid in Europe and Japan, at least at the beginning.
“Starting in early March, you’ll be able to spend any Gold Points you’ve accumulated in My Nintendo when purchasing Nintendo Switch software from Nintendo eShop on your device, or even via this website! You can pay for the remaining balance with Nintendo eShop funds, or any other payment method available in Nintendo eShop,” the company reported.
According to the page, 1 gold point will be equal to €.1 EUR ($.12 USD) and to obtain them it will be necessary to buy content in the eShop. Purchasing digital titles or redeeming download codes will reimburse 5% in gold points while registering a game in physical format will only give 1% of the purchase.
The points will be valid for one year from the month they were purchased. For example, gold obtained in March 2018 will only be available until March 2019.
So far, Nintendo of America has not reported if this promotion will be available in their continent. We will wait for more details in the next hours.
