The latest issue of the MCV publication includes new information about Nintendo NX. Although you still have to treat the item as a rumor, it does not appear as such.
According to this media, Nintendo will try to avoid drought games after launch with great heavyweights. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already confirmed, and in the first six months Nintendo NX is expected to add new games of Mario and Pokémon. The company would also have been securing support from Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros., although it is not explained whether new games or adaptations of existing titles will be included.
These same sources confirm the news of last week, saying it is “100 per cent accurate” that NX is a portable console that can be connected to TV, with controllers and removable screen.
The graphics will be “somewhere between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4”, and the target audience is between users of smartphone and PS4 or Xbox One gamers.
“It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one,” according to an executive who has tested the machine. “It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”
The publication also speculates on the price. According to retail chains in the UK, it is essential that the price is less than 200 pounds. “The games industry sorely misses a strong Nintendo. If the NX reports are true, I’m optimistic. But only if the machine is significantly cheaper than PS4 and Xbox One,” said one major buyer.
“NX could be exactly what the market needs. A £150 to £200 price point would guarantee a far stronger start than either the Wii U or 3DS,” says the head of a shop.
Nintendo NX will be released in March 2017. Its official presentation is expected for this autumn, in September according to rumors.
