As promised, SEGA has unveiled the first details of Project Sonic 2017 during SXSW in Austin, which is taking place at this time. The new game of the hedgehog will be called Sonic Forces and will be out later this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Just the “force” will be one of the key elements of the game, in the words of Takashi Iizuka of the Sonic Team. The plot will have as its concept the clash between good and evil: on one side Sonic and his faithful companions, and on the other hand there will be the evil Dr. Eggman.

The producer describes Sonic Forces as a great evolution of Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, the title will include many new features yet to be announced. To note how the game has moved from the new Hedgehog Engine 2, which provides advanced lighting effects, better management of physical and generally allow the Sonic Team to give life to a product technically cured in all respects.

In the bottom of the news there are some offscreen gameplay video of Sonic Forces, the first official gameplay trailer will be officially released this afternoon, Friday, March 17.

We will keep you posted to share the video when it becomes available. While that happens, we leave you with the new art of this project above.

Unfortunately, we also have bad news for Sonic fans, since SEGA has confirmed that Sonic Mania was delayed. At the event, the company confirmed that the game will arrive in summer and not in spring as planned.
