There is excellent news for fans of role-playing games, since Skybound Games and Beamdog will bring a total of 6 classic PC titles from the genre to consoles. The list includes Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment and more.
The companies did not disclose the consoles that will receive the games, but they clarified that they are preparing ports of the improved versions of each title. Thus, players can enjoy Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldurs Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.
The surprises do not end there, since Skybound Games and Beamdog are also working to bring Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition and Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition to consoles.
“These games are iconic, including ‘Baldur’s Gate,’ which has really set the standard for ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ computer role-playing games. We’re excited to bring Beamdog’s incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time. As longtime fans of ‘Baldur’s Gate’ and ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ it’s fantastic to partner with Beamdog as the newest member of the Skybound family,” said Ian Howe, executive manager of Skybound Games.
For his part, Trent Oster, executive manager of Beamdog, was excited to work with Skybound Games. “We are delighted to partner with Skybound Games to bring these great classics to the new platforms, Skybound’s achievements are incredible and they have a love and respect for the creators,” commented the creator.
We will have to wait for the companies to confirm it, but it is likely that all the mentioned titles will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and even Nintendo Switch. For now, there are no tentative release dates, but the games are expected to debut this year.
