Mortal Kombat 11 Won’t Have Loot Boxes, Matrix Neo Will Not be Added

Mortal Kombat 11 is the cover game of the new issue of Game Informer USA and for the occasion the magazine put the usual 166 questions to the creator of the series, Ed Boon. The answers of the producer reveal new interesting details on the fighting game.

Ed Boon confirms that the roster of Mortal Kombat 11 will include 25 characters at launch, with five additional characters coming through DLC, including no Neo from Matrix movie, despite numerous requests in this regard.

Story Mode will not have Quick Time Events while multiple endings are confirmed. At launch the game will not support Cross-Play but it is possible that this option will arrive in the near future, furthermore Ed Boon confirms the absence of Loot Boxes and the framerate of the Switch version, equal to 60 fps.

Other curiosities concern Dragon Ball FighterZ (one of Ed Boon’s favorite games) and the will to create a new IP in the future, it is also revealed that a script for the next Mortal Kombat movie exists but will probably be rewritten because “it’s not that good.”

Finally, Ed Boon points out that his best selling game is Mortal Kombat X, which has reached eleven million copies distributed worldwide, including the XL reissue.
