Microsoft Recommends Buying External Hard Drive for Xbox One X
Even if Xbox One X is able to offer a graphic display of the highest quality, but this will not happen if you do not download the respective patch that allows you to live with a new experience in graphic terms. This issue has worried some players because the patches are not small, nor huge, but we all know that we can not skimp on storage space. That’s why Albert Penello, marketing director of Xbox, recommended users of the new console to buy an external hard drive.
Since the last generation, storage space has become a fundamental need for players because if the content is vast and economic conditions allow it, we encourage you to download as much as we can to satisfy our desire as players. Now with the patches required for the graphical improvements on Xbox One X, a new need is opened in terms of space and Xbox is aware of it.
In an interview conducted by Game Informer, Albert Penello spoke on the subject and assured that they are working on it so that it does not become a problem.
In that sense, Penello stated the following: “We’re generally seeing that the 4K patches are bigger, but they’re obviously not double or four times bigger. They’re on average probably a third larger than the 1080p assets. We’re doing a lot of what we call intelligent delivery to help that on both consoles. We have enabled a new set of tools for developers to allow them to segment the assets by the console, and also things that take up a lot of space like language packs and stuff like that, which typically go down as one big download. We’re making a lot of effort with developers to make downloads better.”
At the same time, Penello invited users to purchase external hard drives to ensure sufficient storage space for this new stage: “The last thing is that I do encourage the external hard drive as something we’ve supported from the get-go. We’ve found that even when we had internal hard drive swap ability like on Xbox 360, that people don’t really like to crack open their consoles. Having external hard drive support – and those are very affordable these days; there was just this 4 TB on sale for, like, $110 I think – is a great way to get a ton of storage.”
Finally, the manager of Xbox said they will continue working to optimize the patches required for Xbox One X in order to satisfy developers and players, especially for those who have large digital libraries on Microsoft consoles.
Remember that Xbox One X, the most powerful console in the world, is already available worldwide.
