Media Create: Nintendo Switch and PS4 Start 2018 With Strong Sales in Japan

Splatoon 2 was the best selling of the first week of the year.

Media Create shared its video game sales report in Japan for the first week of 2018. Thanks to this we know that PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch started the year with the right foot in this region.

What we mean is that, between January 1 and 7, Nintendo Switch sold 146,000 units, making it the most popular console of the week. Behind the hybrid console is the PlayStation 4 with 75,344 units dispatched. Check the full list below:

Hardware Sales:
1. Nintendo Switch – 146,006 units sold.
2. PlayStation 4 – 75,344 units sold.
3. New Nintendo 2DS XL – 28,237 units sold.
4. PlayStation 4 Pro – 16,339 units sold.
5. New Nintendo 3DS XL – 12,246 units sold.
6. PlayStation Vita – 11,929 units sold.
7. 2DS – 5254 units sold.
8. Xbox One – 190 units sold.
9. Xbox One X – 9 units sold.

On the other hand, the list of the 10 best-selling games of the week makes it clear that Nintendo Switch is the most popular console in the region. What we mean is that of the 10 titles that appeared on it, 6 are released for the latest Nintendo console.

So, this week the most popular release was Splatoon 2 with 117,840 copies sold. Following in the footsteps of the colorful shooter is Super Mario Odyssey (110,816) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (82,806).
