Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions for Nintendo 3DS was announced in E3 2017 and many were excited to enjoy the classic RPG with new features. Of course, if you expected that this remake would let you enjoy this adventure in 3D we have some bad news: this title you can play only in 2D.

This we know because of Nintendo that has shared an image of the RPG cover for Nintendo 3DS. As you will see, a message appears in the middle of the bottom (below the game title) indicating that you can only enjoy it in 2D. This means nothing will happen if you turn on the 3D effect of the handheld.

It is important to note that this will be the first installment of the franchise for Nintendo 3DS that will not make use of the 3D effect. The above, as we know, feature is available in Mario & Luigi Dream Team and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam..

What the cover also points out is that Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions will have compatibility with amiibo figures; Fact that was revealed in a recent broadcasting of Nintendo Treehouse. At the moment, Nintendo has not detailed what the figures of NFC will do the in the new version of the RPG.

Recall that Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions will be available from October 6th.

What do you think about this news? Did you expect to play Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga in 3D? Tell us in the comments below.

  • Another step backwards, going from undistorted full immersion images to distorted images, where everything is cheapened by squashing down from full volume to the gross distortion of a single flat plane with no volume at all, like years ago.

  • Thanks for pointing this out. I bought Mario & Luigi dream team, and love the great use of 3D. I will plan to get Mario & Luigi Paper Jam on the day of this 2D abomination known as Superstar Saga comes out. I will not support games like this & Final Fantasy Explorers & Shift DX. Give us a Nintendo 4DS in 2K19 or early 2K20. I will still get the Switch before then anyways.
