Konami’s Sales fall, but profit still rises
Like other companies, Konami has just presented its financial report for the six months between April 1 and September 30th of this year. According to reports, the company did achieve an increase in profits, despite the drop in video game sales for the period.
Sales of Konami reached barely $963 million, which is less than $1.2 billion figure that the developer managed by the same concept in 2015. The games that maintained a good performance in that period were the titles for mobile devices such as Jinkkyou Pwafuru Puroyakyu, Professional Baseball Spirits A (Ace) and Winning Eleven (PES) Club Manager.
For console, the strongest card for Konami was PES 2017, which was described as a “strong performance”, but the company did not specify how many copies of this soccer simulator were sold. An event that was also identified as successful was the championship of Yu-Gi-Oh! held in August.
The business of Konami was also successful is its division of Health & Fitness, as the company said that 6 of their athletes of the Konami Sports Club won medals in gymnastics and swimming at the Olympics in Rio.
For the future, Konami expects to increase its market share of smartphones and tablets. Just as in the emerging world of virtual reality. In addition, a new game for the different platforms that is underway is Metal Gear Survive, which is in the world of Metal Gear V and will be developed after the events of Ground Zeroes.
