Konami Would Love To Do “Old 2D Games” of Contra franchise

The Contra franchise was recently reborn with the announcement of Contra: Rogue Corps for Nintendo Switch, but the gameplay is not exactly the same as the fans of the original series have been enjoying for years.

Their main change is that the new game of Konami will feature 3D gameplay, although this does not mean that they have abandoned the idea of a 2D game for the future.

In an interview with DualShockers, the executive producer Nobuya Nakazato said they could return to 2D style if they think of something innovative.

These were the words of Nobuya Nakazato:

“Yeah, I love the old 2D games as well and I’d love to make new ones, but just modernizing the graphics, upgrading the graphics, and creating something new in them would not be the right way to do it, in my opinion. I’d have to come up with a new innovation and maybe change a bit of the genre and then I can start working on one of those.”

Recently, it was known that the demo version of Contra: Rogue Corps is available for download on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to test this trial version, simply go to this link here.
