Kingdom Hearts III was announced several years ago as a title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; however, the success of Nintendo Switch has made many think about the possibility of seeing it on this console. If you are one of them, you will be happy to know that, although there are no plans to do so, the idea has not been ruled out.

In a recent talk with IGN UK, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts III, confessed that Switch seems an interesting console. He also made it clear that he sees with good eyes the possibility that the next adventure of Sora, Donald and Goofy will reach this platform. However, he said that before doing that port they have other priorities.

“The Nintendo Switch is definitely a very interesting piece of hardware, but if we lightly say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be on the Nintendo Switch,’ I’m sure people will come back and say, ‘But what about the PS4 and Xbox One? We want them out first. Don’t focus on other platforms. So for now, we want to focus on what platforms we’ve already announced we’re going to be releasing Kingdom Hearts 3 on. And so after, perhaps, maybe we can start thinking about other possibilities,” he said.

So, while Nomura does not close the door to the idea of Kingdom Hearts III coming to Nintendo Switch and other platforms, everything seems to indicate that it will be available sometime after its original release. In this way, we could be in a situation similar to Final Fantasy XV, JRPG whose PC version will arrive just over 1 year after the release for consoles.

Recall that this is not the first time that Nomura talks about the possibility of seeing Kingdom Hearts III on Nintendo Switch. In the middle of last year, the executive explained that it is possible to see it on the hybrid console but for the moment they are focused on other things.

In other news, this weekend Square Enix shared a new preview of Kingdom Hearts III, which showed us the rumored world of Monster’s Inc. On the other hand, this title will also feature a world of Toy Story, which surprised Pixar.

Kingdom Hearts III is expected to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before the end of the year. Do you think we’ll see Kingdom Hearts III on Nintendo Switch? What features do you expect from this possible port? Tell us in the comments below.
