In late February Horizon: Zero Dawn debuted, and since then we have seen it among the best selling titles in various regions of the world. Sony has now confirmed the success of this release by announcing how many copies it has sold.

In its first 2 weeks on the market, Horizon: Zero Dawn sells 2.6 million copies. This figure takes into account the physical copies that have been sold to consumers, as well as digital copies that were purchased from the PlayStation Store.

With this, Horizon: Zero Dawn became newest-selling IP of Sony on PlayStation 4, as well as being the biggest premiere in the history of Guerrilla Games. This seems to indicate that Horizon: Zero Dawn had a better debut than any other installment of the Killzone franchise.

“We knew Horizon Zero Dawn was going to be something special, so to see the incredible critical reaction to a brand new game world translate into this level of sales is really gratifying,” said Shawn Layden, Head of Worldwide Studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment. “Guerrilla has created a game that is nothing short of exceptional, and the reaction we have seen from fans–from hours and hours of gameplay streaming to endless photo sharing–shows just how impactful it has been.”

On the other hand, Hermen Hulst, director of Guerrilla Games, was happy to receive his title and confirmed that they are already working on a  story expansion. Sadly, for the moment they have not shared more details about it.

Horizon: Zero Dawn debuted on February 28 in America and we have found it a very good game.
