In a telephonic interview with IGN, Guillermo del Toro has described the role his plays in Death Stranding, the new game from Hideo Kojima, which, in the words of the film maker, is reduced to a simple character, so it will have no influence on the development of the game.
Regarding his role in the game, del Toro replied: “I’m involved as a character. Kojima-san called me and said, ‘I want you to be a character in the game,’ and I said, ‘Gladly.’ He’s discussed his ideas so I could understand the character, but other than that I’m not involved, creatively, at all.”
Finally, Guillermo del Toro confirmed that he has nothing to do with the development of the game: “This is entirely Kojima-san’s game. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic game, 100%. But this is him and his ideas. I’m just a puppet in his hands. My contribution is limited to being a cheerleader for his ideas and being scanned for long hours at a time. That’s about it.”
Death Stranding is the result of collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Sony. Here you can check out the game trailer presented in The Game Awards in 2016.
