Grand Theft Auto V Has Sold 110m Copies To Date, RDR2 Exceeded 24m Units
Grand Theft Auto V continues its quest to become the most successful video game of all time. And the goal is closer and closer, because the ambitious project of Rockstar Games has already overcome the barrier of 110 million copies sold.
According to reports, Take-Two Interactive has just presented its results for the last quarter of 2018. It revealed net earnings of $539 million, which exceeded the $450.3 million generated a year ago. A key part of these impressive figures is the success of Grand Theft Auto V, which with its 110 million copies sold reaffirms its third place in the list of best-selling titles in history. Its next victim could be Minecraft, which currently ranks second with more than 144 million copies sold.
The sales of Grand Theft Auto V show no signs of stopping, considering that it was launched in 2013: by March 2018, it had sold 95 million copies, a number that increased to 100 million in November. Thus, the 110 million sales revealed this day shows that the game sold 15 million copies in the last fiscal year.
The report also indicated that Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to have moderate success: at this time, the cowboy title has already sold more than 24 million copies, although it has only sold 1 million in the last 3 months. Even so, Take-Two Interactive considered that it is selling better than expected. Surely, now Rockstar Games will focus on improving its online aspect, looking for it to become as successful as Grand Theft Auto Online. Red Dead Online will leave its Beta status at the end of June.
Grand Theft Auto V is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. What do you think about these impressive figures? Tell us in the comments below.
