GameStop: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett Could be Revealed at the End of 2019

Can PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett be announced very soon and hit stores by the end of 2019? There are no certainty about it but only an opinion from Rob Lloyd, CFO of GameStop Corporation, who expects big news soon on the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

According to the financial manager of GameStop Corp. the current platforms would have reached their peak in terms of sales, because PS4 and Xbox One sales pace are slowing down. In that sense Lloyd said about the following about the new hardware plans of Sony and Microsoft: “With respect to new hardware, as we get closer to the end of the current console cycle for Xbox and PlayStation, we expect demand to decline as some customers choose to wait on the sidelines in anticipation of acquiring the next generation of innovative consoles.”

In recent days, IDC analyst Lewis Ward predicted the arrival of PS5 and Xbox Scarlett in 2021, but the speculations of Rob Lloyd seems to overturn the balance and it is not excluded that, given his position, the GameStop CFO might be knowing something more and that he is already working with Sony and Microsoft to better promote the launch of Next-Gen consoles. According to Jason Schreier of Kotaku, Xbox Scarlett and PS5 will arrive in 2020 with a presentation actually scheduled for this year.

At the moment, in any case, it is only speculation, as far as Xbox Scarlett is concerned we will probably know more about it at E3 2019 in June while PlayStation 5 could be announced during a special event scheduled for late spring or late summer.
