In February of this year, Playground Games confirmed its plans to expand with a new studio in England. As you will remember, this company is behind the Forza Horizon series, so it has a lot of experience in the development of racing titles. However, at the beginning of 2017, the studio reported that it was working on a game that was not of that genre.
Now, months later, we know that its project is an open-world RPG. For this reason, Playground Games invited to its ranks developers with experience in titles of this type. According to the report of GamesIndustry, Sean Eyestone is already working on the new game of the studio.
If the name of the creative does not sound to you, you should know that he worked with Hideo Kojima on titles such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes. On the other hand, Will Kennedy and Juan Fernández di Simon also joined Playground. They were working as a chief designer and principal combat designer, respectively. They have been involved in projects such as Grand Theft Auto V and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
About this new project, Gavin Raeburn, executive director of the studio, said: “We’re delighted that we’ve secured a second studio to house our new team. This is a hugely exciting project that is already attracting world-class talent to Playground.”
Raeburn asked for patience from the fans of the company and emphasized that the new project will be something big: “The combination of new blood and experienced Playground team members is already showing huge promise and I’m excited to see this talented group contribute to Playground’s continued success,” the manager concluded.
Unfortunately, there are still no concrete details about the RPG developed by the company. We also do not know what platforms it will arrive. So, we will have to wait to learn more about it.
