Forza Horizon Dev Playground Games opening second studio for an open world game

Now being famous for the excellent series of Forza Horizon, Playground Games have proven to be able to use cutting-edge technologies that can be also exploited for different genres from racing game.
Evidently everyone is convinced of this, and so the team has decided to open a new development studio that will focus on a different project. Apparently it will always be an open world game, but not belonging to the racing genre: “It is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves in a different genre,” said Ralph Fulton, founder and creative director of Playground, to GamesIndustry. “We’re going to need to hire some very talented people with experience that we don’t have,” he added, pointing out how the team is completely new.
Playground is currently made up of 115 people and is expected to increase the workforce to 200 in the next period, with the opening of this new studio which will be located not far from the base, in Royal Leamington Spa, UK. Continuing to work on Forza Horizon, they have considered the leading brand to carry on, but at the same time, and for the first time since the team’s founding in 2010, Playground will focus on two projects simultaneously.
Fulton has also reported that Forza Horizon 3, for which today came out the new Playseat Car Pack, was the title better received among those developed by the team and what made it more in economic terms, with commercial results much higher than those of the other two previous chapters.
