The new model of Nintendo Switch with renewed CPU (HAC-001-01) has begun to reach the Australian market. The first remittances are already on sale in Sydney stores, where different users have acquired their unit and have begun to test the main novelty of the system: its longer battery life.

Nintendo announced that this version, which is released two and a half years later than the original model (HAC-001) would be more efficient; in this way, without the need to increase the number of milliamps of the lithium battery (4310 mAh), the autonomy of the console will be increased. The promise was that its estimated autonomy would range between 4.5 and 9 hours, depending on the program we use, the level of brightness or connectivity. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was tested as an example with about 5.5 hours, almost double of that of the 2017 model.

According to the video provided by MeeMeGame Channel, which has used as an example the aforementioned Zelda: Breath of the Wild to corroborate Nintendo’s estimates, the battery lasted 5 hours and 36 minutes with maximum brightness; that is, exactly what the Kyoto company expected.

Regarding Nintendo Switch Lite, the company’s new portable console located within the “Switch” family available from September 20, will be a more compact, lightweight and economical model. This version, which cannot be connected to the TV and will dispense with the possibility of decoupling the Joy-Con, will have a lithium battery of 3570 mAh instead of the 4310 mAh of the hybrid model.

The consumption of the portable model will have more autonomy compared to the 2017 model by having reduced consumption by taking advantage of the new CPU, which will cool better, or by disregarding aspects such as HD vibration, a smaller screen, etc. In the case of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, in the portable mode we can play up to 4 hours with a full charge. Its screen, which will maintain resolution despite reducing its size from 6 to 5.5 inches, will be sharper from 237 PPI to 267 PPI.
