Square Enix announced today the opening of a new studio under the name of Luminous Production, which will be in charge of Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV.
According to Square Enix, the goal of Luminous Production will be to develop new AAA games and bring innovative games and other entertainment content to a global audience. With Tabata in command, the director will recruit many of the people who were involved in the development of Final Fantasy XV.
For now, the studio is in the hiring process, so those interested can go to the website to get more information. Luminous Production will be based in Tokyo, Japan, and at the moment the projects in which the new branch of Square Enix will work are unknown.
In gamescom 2017, Tabata was clear and direct in saying that there are no plans to make a sequel to Final Fantasy XV, as they are only focused on expanding the base game experience. Therefore, the new studio will undoubtedly focus on new projects.
During the event, the director also said that he was already working on his next game. The only thing we know is that this IP will use the same Final Fantasy XV engine and that the studio is working to improve AI.
