We know that Far Cry 5 is the second best launch ever in the history of Ubisoft (behind only The Division) and that the game has marked new sales records for the saga, but the French publisher has not revealed the number of copies actually distributed from the launch. A clue about it now comes from The Jefferies Group.

According to reports, Far Cry 5 has already sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide, an impressive number considering that its predecessor, Far Cry 4, has sold eight million pieces in twelve months.

Ubisoft has confirmed how Far Cry 5 is the best-selling episode of the franchise at launch, having achieved better results than Far Cry 4 and Far Far Cry Primal, the titles released respectively in 2014 and 2016.

Previously it was confirmed that Far Cry 5 has become the best-selling franchise game to date, although Ubisoft has not disclosed any official sales figures. However, after the reception received by Far Cry Primal in 2016, it is safe to say that the stock has restored consumer confidence in the franchise.

Far Cry 5 is available for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One from March 27th.
