Nintendo plans to give maximum visibility to the Zelda saga, thanks to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, both currently under development on the Nintendo Switch consoles.

Eiji Aonuma has now revealed in an interview with Kotaku that his team is working full-time on Breath of the Wild 2, while a raw team is thinking about the work on the equally promising Link’s Awakening.

One of the few criticisms that fans have repeatedly voiced about Breath of the Wild was the lack of extensive dungeons. The Titans are not enough: as we know them from older titles in the series.

Asked if there is anything that Aonuma would like to do better in retrospect (and eventually ends up in the successor), he does not want to answer directly: “I can’t predict the future, but if people do love this idea of arranging dungeons, I’ll keep that in mind going forward.”

These statements, along with those about the dungeons and their multiple solutions, could be interpreted to mean that in the future.

Grezzo has a lot of experience with the Zelda series (having also taken care of the excellent portals of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for 3DS), so there is no doubt that the Link saga is in good hands.

The journalist Jason Schreier also heard a preview that Aonuma opted for Breath of the Wild 2 because of the many (too many) ideas that were emerging for any DLCs in the first chapter.

Finally, it also seems confirmed that the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is in the pipeline for 2021, always and only on Nintendo Switch consoles.
