EA Could Be Working On A Star Wars Open-World Game

Electronic Arts is working on a new Star Wars open-world game, or at least that’s what a job offer indicates. The most interesting thing is that it seems to be the new direction of the project that, until last year, was under development at Visceral Games.

The job offer appeared on the official job board of Electronic Arts. There it points out that this is a vacancy for the position of an online engineer and that the chosen candidate will have the responsibility to “lead a team to deliver Online features for a Star Wars Open World project”. It also indicates that the candidate must have experience implementing online features such as “Matchmaking, Asynchronous interactions, Live services, Server-host migration, etc.”

The reason why we mentioned that it could be the reboot of the Visceral Games project is because the vacancy is to work at EA Vancouver. In case you do not know, the Canadian-based studio took the reins of this project after the closure of Visceral Games. In addition, the job description seems to indicate that it is a game as a service.

It is important to note that, at the time of writing this note, Electronic Arts has not commented on it. We will keep an eye on it and inform you if more details about this project or the job offer arise.

In other news, recently the developers of Rebel Galaxy showed a game of Star Wars that they wanted to develop, but it was not accepted by EA.
