Electronic Arts officially announced that it will merge the studio of Mass Effect Andromeda BioWare Montreal with Motive Studios. According to the company, they seek to create a close collaboration between these teams.

There were several rumors, which pointed out that Electronic Arts, the parent company of the two studios, wanted to carry out a merger. The same CFO Blake Jorgensen in the quarterly investor conference of EA, openly declared that the two studios will start working together in a new office in Montreal, but at no time spoke of the union. Thus, both the workers at BioWare Montreal and those at Motive Studios were sent to the new offices of Electronic Arts.

“The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we’re driving collaboration between studios on key projects,” EA said. “With multiple major projects in development in Montreal, we are merging BioWare Montreal with Motive Studios. This is an ongoing process, but there are many exciting roles and opportunities for everyone on the team.”

It should be noted that this change is made before reports suggest that the series of Mass Effect will pause after the difficult launch of Andromeda. Therefore, BioWare Montreal will work, from now on, on other projects.

“BioWare continues its work on new titles – including the highly-anticipated game, Anthem,” continued the studio. “What’s coming next for BioWare is very exciting, and we’re thrilled to have Casey Hudson returning to lead the studios in Edmonton and Austin.”

EA Motive is currently working on the campaign of Star Wars: Battlefront II. The studio is led by Jade Raymond and is also developing a new Star Wars title.
