EA explains why you can’t play FIFA 18 online against friends on Nintendo Switch
FIFA 18 for Nintendo Switch does not allow you to play online with other contacts from your friends’ list, a shortage that has led many buyers to complain publicly about Electronic Arts for this choice.
One of the most discussed features of the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 18 is definitely the inability to organize online games with users of their friend’s list.
FIFA 18 comes to Nintendo Switch starring a controversy because it has no option to play online with friends. Unlike other console games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Splatoon 2, the sports title of EA Sports does not have this option in its code.
After a few days of silence, the publisher has finally issued a short comment via the Eurogamer.net website about this problem: “FIFA 18 on Switch offers Local Seasons allowing friends to play against each other across two consoles in close proximity to one another, and we encourage those looking to compete online to take advantage of online modes on Switch including FIFA Ultimate Team, Online Seasons, and Online Tournaments.”
In the statement, Electronic Arts remembers that there is a mode of the online game in the version for the console of Nintendo, but does not explain what have been the reasons that have led to the absence of this functionality so basic for all players who prefer to play games with friends.
The reasons for the decision remain in the air, but it is clear that the console can include this functionality similar to other titles released that already make use of similar systems.
