Although Electronic Arts has announced the imminent start of Season 2 of Star Wars Battlefront 2, with content from Solo A Star Wars Story, it seems that the publisher is actually willing to abandon the project gradually in the coming months, as reported by an insider.
The insider in question, who leaked this information on Reddit, seems to have very close contacts with some key members of DICE, who would have talked about an unfavorable situation for the future of Star Wars Battlefront 2.
In particular, EA would have no medium or long-term plans and would not yet have allocated a budget for the work of the next few months: the plans would be changed continuously and at present there would be only minor updates, moreover Criterion and EA Motive would no longer be actively working on the game, with the entire support left in the hands of DICE, which however would already be extremely busy with the new Battlefield 5.
No longer being a fresh title and having not guaranteed the expected commercial results, it is likely that the publisher is evaluating well for the upcoming investments in new titles. Of course, everything reported here has to be taken with a pinch of salt, waiting to know the next programs and see the extent of new productions coming from EA and DICE.
