Dragon Quest XI officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch
The Japanese site of Nintendo has published a report devoted to the Jump Festa, an event that took place during the weekend that just ended. For the first time the existence of Dragon Quest XI was officially confirmed for Switch, previously anticipated by Yuji Horii but never made official by Square-Enix and Nintendo.
Through a message on the official blog in Japanese language, Nintendo has officially confirmed the arrival of Dragon Quest XI of Square Enix on the new console of Nintendo Switch. Until now the development of the Switch version was referred as “considered” , although Yuji Horii, creator of the saga, said in an interview that the issue for the new Nintendo console was already in development.
Dragon Quest XI In Search of Time Departed will therefore also come on Switch, although at the moment there are no other details about the title, during Jump Festa the publisher has shown in action only versions intended for PlayStation 4 and 3DS.
Also at the Japanese fair, the producer of the game said that the goal of Square-Enix is to launch Dragon Quest XI in time for the thirtieth anniversary of the series, or before May 27, 2017, at the time, however, it is only than just a hypothesis, an entirely provisional launch window.
No confirmation was given instead as regards for the possible western localization. We do not know if the Nintendo Switch version of DQXI exploits the engine of Unreal Engine 4 of the Sony version, that of the 3DS version or if it will be developed specifically to take advantage of special features.
