During an interview given to the website Polygon, the famous actor Mads Mikkelsen wanted to talk about his first meeting with Hideo Kojima and his relationship, and how he got involved in Death Stranding.
“We met through a mutual friend,” explains the actor in the film Polar before adding that “Hideo likes to work with his friends, and then he’d been watching some of my films, and then he knew me, and so we’ve got a connection, and he wanted me to be part of this,” referring to his commitment to the cast of Death Stranding.
Regarding his first meeting with the boss of Kojima Productions, Mikkelsen said that “I had no idea what he was talking about. I was just meeting with the guy, and then I asked around me, and everybody, who was younger than me, just said, “Whoa, he’s the godfather of all gaming!” And he turned out to be a genius.”
According to the Danish actor, his first approach to the story of Death Stranding certainly did not help him to understand what Kojima had in mind: “I mean, whatever he’s doing, I’ve never seen anything like it. Specifically for this, what we’re doing now, I’ve never seen anything like it. He still tries to pitch me what it is and I’m still standing there looking like an idiot, going, “What? Say it again?” It is so elaborate, his world. It makes sense when it’s done, but it’s difficult to grasp when he talks about it.”
When asked whether he is still working on the game, Mikkelsen replied that “We’re still doing little things, but how much we’ve got left, I’m not sure.” He also stated that it is upto Hideo Kojima to give a clear release date of Death Stranding to the fans, they have got heavy instructions on “what to say and not to say.”
All this while, the rumors about Death Stranding to be released on PlayStation 4 in the course of 2019 continues to bounce on the web.
