The next title of CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077, could be released on the next generation consoles, ie PS5 and Next Xbox. The game is confirmed for PC and the current PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it seems that the studio has already in its horizon the next systems.
In an event that has recently taken place, the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar 2018, two members of the company have talked about their plans. The participants of CD Projekt RED were Piotr Nielubowicz and Adam Kiciński.
In the presentation, they have explained that the game is being developed with “current and next-generation technology.” The expression is ambiguous because it could refer to both the most advanced technology (although they speak of “next generation” and not “state-of-the-art”) as well as the next generation of consoles such as PS5 and Next Xbox. In this case, the truth is that I could talk about the next great technological leap in graphics for PC and not necessarily the next generation of consoles.
In any case, this kind of statement is enough to unleash all kinds of speculation. Especially if we consider that the game will possibly be launched, at the earliest, in 2019.
The latest speculation suggests that the successors of PS4 and Xbox One could appear on the market in 2020 or even the end of 2019. If we take this into account, the title offered as an intergenerational game will make the leap to the new range of consoles.
