Cyberpunk 2077 Production Stage: Game Engine Completed, Release Date Unknown
In an interview with Puls Biznesu, Adam Kicinski of CD Projekt RED revealed new information on the development of the much-expected title of Cyberpunk 2077.
The founder of the Polish studio has announced that an important production stage has just been completed. The game engine that runs Cyberpunk 2077, which boast sophisticated technology, is now complete and functional.
“The engine is up and running. Of course, it will be further developed. At each of our games we had to develop technology very well and this time it was the same. It must be appropriate for our needs with the specific title and the world we create and match the capabilities of the devices available on the market. Therefore, the engine needs constant updating – its modifications usually take place to a very late stage,” Kicinski said in the interview.
Work on it will continue, as there are always margins of improvement, but in any case, this is a very important goal. Recently, however, there have been no major issues and development has proceeded smoothly, to the point that CD Projekt RED is really happy with the results obtained so far.
Everything seems to go right, but unfortunately, it is still too early to announce the release date, which certainly will not let the title to arrive this year: “You have to wait patiently for the official announcement. We will not announce the date this year, will we make an announcement next year? I can’t say for certain. Commenting on the speculation market would be unfavorable for us,” Kicinski admitted.
Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
