Yesterday, Deep Silver released Dead Island: Survivors, a mobile game based on the popular zombie franchise created by Techland. This worried many fans who thought it was bad news for the development of Dead Island 2; However, the reality is different.
What we are referring to is that, through a publication on Twitter, Deep Silver confirmed that Dead Island 2 is still in development. So, Dead Island: Survivors is nothing more than a mobile spin-off and is not a reflection of the future of the series.
“Dead Island 2 is still in development and we will share more on this at a later stage,” the studio said in the publication.
So, everything seems to indicate that Dead Island fans have no choice but to be patient and wait for Deep Silver to have more news to share. As usual, we will be on the lookout and we will share all the news.
Dead Island 2 was originally announced in E3 2014 and was expected to arrive sometime in 2015. Having said that, in mid-2016 Deep Silver decided to break relations with Yager, the studio responsible for its development and transfer the project to Sumo Digital. Since then we have not known more about the game, but Deep Silver has made it clear that the project is still standing.
“Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver’s most successful IP. When we are ready to share more information, we will,” said the distributor in mid-2017.
