Although it was expected that Conan Exiles will arrive to Steam Early Access in September this year, now Funcom has announced that the game will suffer a slight delay, and will be available sometime in January 2017.
Thus, the creative director of Conan Exiles, Joel Bylos explained through Steam who decided to delay the game due to feedback from fans, to work more in the game. He added that, recently, the studio said something about securing additional funding, which means that development can be more flexible at this time.
“Having very recently secured additional funding for our studio which has made our financial situation much more flexible than even just a few weeks back,” he said. “We want to take advantage of that and move Early Access to January 2017. With the extra time in development, we believe we can make a better game for you, the fans.”
Therefore, the studio will seek to polish the game to the fullest, to not have problems when available in Early Access in early 2017, and thus achieve a successful launch next to the community.
“Our observations of Early Access are that it tends to run in two directions. In one case, the games are buggy, unstable and unfinished. In another case, the games are stable, well featured and the community and development team work together to map out the future of the project towards a successful launch. Our aim is to deliver a game that is firmly in the second situation and creates a quintessential Conan experience.”
Finally, the studio asked for some patience from its fans, and thanked for the support given to the development of Conan Exiles.
In Conan Exiles do not take the role of Conan the Barbarian, but an exile who was crucified and abandoned to their fate. In the game you will have tools to build from a cabin to a complete village alongside more exiles. In addition, the stage is an open world focused on multiplayer, but if you prefer, you can play individually.
Conan Exiles will debut in January 2017 on Steam Early Access; the game also aims to reach consoles, but for now there is no more information.
