COD: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered are not compatible between Windows Store and Steam

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered are available on Windows Store, including several special editions such as Digital Legacy and Digital Deluxe. The multiplayer modes of these versions, however, will not be compatible with users of Steam or other digital stores.

The new episode of the famous FPS from Activision, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, is now available on PC and gaming consoles. If the title is preparing to combine the sales like the previous games, we learn a detail particularly penalizing for PC gamers.

As can be read on the page of questions and answers of Activision, these copies can not be played with versions on other platforms acquired on PC. Nor have the option to Play Anywhere – purchase versions of Xbox One- although this could be expected.

As writting in the FAQ of Activision: “Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on another PC platform?”

The Activision FAQ answers: “No, you can only play these titles with other users of Windows 10 on Windows Store.”

Some media speculate that it may be due for some technical reason that the Windows Store game is only compatible with Windows 10, while the Steam supports Windows 7 and higher.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare presents large-scale wars and its usual military narrative, offering a new story where players must fight Settlement of Defense Front to defend our way of life through the solar system.
