During the meeting with shareholders, Capcom has revealed that during the current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2018), it will release two “Major Title” for PC and console. One of them is Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite (coming in September), while the other is an unannounced title.
In detailing its financial results of last quarter, Capcom has revealed it will announce an important new title output by March 2018. The report speaks of two games, but one is already known: it is Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, presented at the PlayStation Experience 2016 and has also included the launch of a “major title”.
At the moment we do not know whether this is a product which is not yet announced, or a video game long overdue as Deep Down or Resident Evil 2 Remake.
As we can see from the published chart above, the publisher expects to sell two million copies of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and another two million units of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, launched last January 24, while there is no information whatsoever on the second project.
Note how the sales forecast of Resident Evil VII Biohazard have been surpassed to date which were distributed 3.5 million units worldwide, compared to two million parts provided by the publisher.
Resident Evil remains the most popular franchise of Capcom with 77 million copies sold, followed by Monster Hunter (39 million) and Street Fighter (39 million). Near the podium we find Devil May Cry (15 million), Dead Rising (10 million) and Dragon’s Dogma (3.2 million).
