Activision announced that Nvidia is the official partner for the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Nvidia is working alongside Infinity Ward to implement DirectX Raytracing in real time and Adaptive Shading in the PC version of the game.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is poised to reset the bar upon release this October,” said Matt Wuebbling, head of GeForce Nvidia’s marketing division. “NVIDIA is proud to partner closely with this epic development and contribute toward the creation of this gripping experience. Our teams of engineers have been working closely with Infinity Ward to use NVIDIA RTX technologies to display the realistic effects and incredible immersion that Modern Warfare offers.”

As we already know, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available exclusively on Battle.net for the PC version. This chapter aims to offer an extremely unified experience between single players, co-op missions and online multiplayer.

“Our work with NVIDIA GPUs has helped us throughout the PC development of Modern Warfare,” said Dave Stohl, one of the bosses of Infinity Ward. “We’ve seamlessly integrated the RTX features like ray tracing and adaptive shading into our rendering pipeline. It’s been a great addition to our existing technology, and we look forward to our PC fans experiencing it for ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ to Support DirectX Raytracing on PC Page 2 themselves very soon.”

DXR brings real-time rendering with a cinematic quality to all content creators and game developers. DXR consists of a highly scalable ray-tracing technology and can be performed on GPUs with Nvidia Turing, Volta or Pascal architecture. Nvidia Adaptive Shading, on the other hand, is a new and advanced technology for shadow reproduction that allows developers to improve performance and achieve high quality visual standards, previously impossible in games. By changing the amount of screen elements that are shaded, this technology reduces the work of the GPU, which enhances performance without decreasing image quality.
