What will we see in this year’s Call of Duty title? Last year the franchise turned into the futuristic and was not so well received by the fans of the series, so that now, leveraging its fiscal conference, Activision has confirmed that it will “take Call of Duty back to its roots.”

At the last financial conference of Electronic Arts, Sledgehammer is back to talk about the next chapter of Call of Duty expected in 2017, confirming that the game will be back on the classics of the binary saga proposing an approach to the more traditional combat.

In his talk with the investors Thomas Tippl said that Infinite Warfare presented “underperformed,” adding that “it’s clear that for a portion of our audience, the space setting just didn’t resonate.”

“Traditional combat will once again take center stage” in the Call of Duty’s 2017 installment, Tippl said. In addition he assured that both the community of Call of Duty and Sledgehammer Games are excited by the approach to the basics. He pointed out that there will be a balance between fresh and innovative but with an atmosphere that can resonate with the fans.
