Rumor: Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Could Be Similar To Overwatch

Last week, several rumors began to circulate about Call of Duty Black Ops 4, the new installment of the popular Activision franchise. Now, a new one emerged that indicates that its multiplayer mode has elements of titles like Overwatch and LawBreakers.

According to sources from CharlieIntel, the website specialized for Call of Duty, the first multiplayer mode that Treyarch developed for Black Ops 4 allows players to choose a hero with unique characteristics to later participate in combats of different game modes. In addition, the information reiterates that this title will not have a campaign mode like the Blizzard title.

An interesting point is that the source ensures that Treyarch is turning back these changes by removing some of the similarities to Overwatch. This is because the Black Ops 4 test sessions did not have the expected success, so the studio felt that it was necessary to make adjustments to deliver an experience that does not clash with past titles.

In its report, ChalieIntel highlights a supposed leak shared by a Twitter user, which presents information that they had previously heard. That said, it also presents new details, such as that some of the changes that Treyarch is implementing will make the multiplayer of Black Ops 4 similar to that of Black Ops III but with some elements of the system of heroes.

“So, as of the last play test, things are changing. Actual Killstreaks are being entered into the game and the hero systems are being scaled back a little bit. What this does mean is that the game is in fact beginning to resemble more and more the state of the game in Black Ops 3. What this means for the future of BO4 I do not know. Currently my information does not stretch to what the mode will become, only to what it very recently was,” mentioned the Twitter user.

It is important to note that Activision has not made any comment about it, so it is better that for now take it as a rumor. That said, we’ll keep an eye on it to share official information when it’s available.

As we mentioned, this is not the first rumor of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 that is made public. A few days ago several sources mentioned that it will be an exclusively multiplayer title since its campaign was canceled at the beginning of the year. In addition, there are people who claim that Raven Software is developing a Battle Royale for this release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 12 and in mid-May we will know more about it.
