At the moment Rare is working on different updates for Sea of Thieves. One of those updates may become a Battle Royale mode. As the impact of the Xbox Game Pass cannot be ignored, Sea of Thieves can enjoy at least positive card numbers with its 4 million players who elect the Rare title as the most successful new Microsoft home IP on Xbox One.
To increase the interest of the players the developers cannot think of new ways and obviously, they cannot fail to mention the now widespread battle royale mode. Rare is thinking about the possibility of inserting it inside its own creation. The design director, Mike Chapman and the studio head, Craig Duncan, talked about it on the pages of GameInformer.
“We see the battle royale thing, but I think there will be opportunities to do that kind of thing differently. It’s interesting where you can take PvP in the game, but we’d want to put a unique Sea of Thieves spin on it and do something completely surprising,” Duncan said. “It’s not about taking something that works super well in another game, and going, “Hey, let’s start everyone in a Sea of Thieves map from different points and have you all come together.”
Rare is obviously aware of the battle royale phenomenon but, however interested, it would still like to propose something truly unique and original. What do you think? Can the mode be suitable for Microsoft exclusive? Tell us in the comments below.
