Angry Fan Smashes PS4 In Protest of Sony’s Support for Genshin Impact, Zelda ‘Clone’
PlayStation tries to enter the Chinese market with everything, so it was present with several announcements in ChinaJoy 2019. One of them was the arrival of Genshin Impact to PlayStation 4.
As we have said earlier, the game has a great resemblance to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, especially for its aesthetics and its world. This has caught the attention of many players, but it also bothered some.
In fact, in ChinaJoy 2019 there was an incident related to the RPG, as a furious player tried to destroy his PlayStation 4 during the event. According to Daniel Ahmad, an analyst at Niko Partners who was present at ChinaJoy 2019, the player was bothered by the similarities between the games.
As Ahmad points out, part of the community is upset because Sony is supporting the release of Genshin Impact, which for many is a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. An assistant took his anger to a level beyond, as he took his PlayStation 4 and smashed it against the floor in protest. Below you can see some photos of the event:
When Mihoyo unveiled Genshin Impact for PS4, many noted the game was inspired by BOTW.
Some fans of BOTW are upset that Sony is promoting this game because of the similarities + they think it’s shameless of Sony.

The authorities of the place questioned the player, but it is not known with certainty what happened next. Several players argued that the studio conducted by Genshin Impact, miHoYo, has been pointed out several times for its productions very similar to others.
For Ahmad, this case is something strange, because apparently, the Western players do not care so much about the similarities between the games, which are more than obvious. However, the Chinese player community seems to be upset since they look too much.
The studio of Genshin Impact has not commented on this. The RPG is in development for PlayStation 4, PC and mobile devices. Check the gameplay of the title below.
