Through a press release, 2K Games has announced that XCOM 2 is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this September 6, 2016 in North America and on September 9 in the rest of the world.
2K Games has announced that XCOM 2, the strategy game of Firaxis Games so far exclusive to PC, will also come to consoles this September 6 in North America and September 9 worldwide. In this case it will be the studio of The Workshop, now a subsidiary of Skydance Media, who will ensure that the arrival of the title to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 meets quality compatible game.
As you remember, Firaxis decided to focus solely on the PC version of XCOM 2, which debuted in February. Although the first part, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, was released simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, the studio decided to concentrate its efforts to develop the first computer version of XCOM 2.
After the game’s release on PC, there were numerous good reviews on this title. That is why console users on forums have filled requests for the title to came to their platforms as it did with its predecessor, XCOM: Enemy Within, as stated by Matt Gorman, Vice President of marketing for 2K:
“Firaxis has successfully improved the XCOM franchise and XCOM 2 has won unanimous recognition from critics and fans. Many console gamers have expressed their desire to have XCOM 2 for these platforms, and now it will join the resistance this month of September”.
James Solomon, the creative director of Firaxis has also been aware of the good reception of its strategy game:
“The incredible reception of XCOM 2 has been rewarding and humbling for the team, and we’ve known console fans have been clamoring to play the game too. As avid console players ourselves, we’re excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans.”
Moreover, remember that you will have the opportunity to try XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Xbox 360, because the game will be available in the Game with Gold program during the second half of June.
