During E3 2016, Square Enix presented a small test of the support that would have Final Fantasy XV in virtual reality and in that occasion we could see a short sequence at the end of the trailer where the perspective was focused on Prompto and allowed us to see everything in the first person.
Since Episode Prompto debuted in late June, fans have been hoping that tech demo will materialize into a VR experience but Square Enix ended with their hopes.
During the PlayStation Experience South East Asia event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 5, Final Fantasy XV designer Wan Hazmer reported that what fans saw on that occasion was only a demo and nothing more.
So, accordingly, the creator gave this statement: “The Prompto Shooting game was actually a showcase back then,” he said. “It was just to showcase the power of the VR – but we have Monster of the Deep! Can you imagine having a Prompto DLC and also having a Prompto VR. Right? We want to offer something very different for every single entry of Final Fantasy 15.”
In this way, the only confirmed VR experience at the moment for Final Fantasy XV is Monster of the Deep, a fishing game presented in E3 2017 that will arrive in September on PlayStation VR.
