Rumor: Battleborn will become free-to-play

Battleborn , the competitive FPS developed by Gearbox, will become free-to-play soon. This was stated by Kotaku in a recent report. Although it is not yet certain, the announcement could be made official in mid-November. Apparently, the studio has already delayed this movement on a couple of occasions.

It is said that when this happens, developers will offer some sort of reward to those who paid for the game; however, it is not yet decided. According to an anonymous source, Gearbox wanted Battleborn out as free-to-play from the start, but the distributor 2K preferred to sell the title at $60 USD.

Despite being a very good game that receives new content constantly, Battleborn was not successful. Therefore, since its launch the title has been devalued apace and has gone through multiple offers. Now, it appears that the game will follow in the footsteps of Evolve in order to increase its player base.

Additionally, the source said that the remastering of Bulletstorm filtered few hours ago is real and that, along with Homeworld and Duke Nukem 3D, it is part of the Gearbox effort to consolidate as an independent studio.

According to the details that signals the body to classify video games in Brazil, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC before the end of 2017. The site notes that Gearbox will be the distributor of this title instead of Electronic Arts, responsible for bringing the original version to the market.
