In an interview with CBC Radio, the General Manager of BioWare, Aaron Flynn spoke about Anthem, revealing that the game does not belong to a well-defined genre but cleverly mixes the gameplay mechanics of the shooter, of the RPGs and of the action games.

Shown with a long demo at E3 2017, and expected at GamesCom 2017 with a new presentation, Anthem will blend different genres, including mechanics of shooter, action, and RPG.

Aaron Flynn has commented the following in the interview with CBC Radio: “The mechanics are, there are shooting mechanics in it, it’s an action game, it’s a roleplaying game, it’s got a lot of those elements to it that let you just become a character and participate in this,” Flynn said.

“It’s co-operative, so it’s our first game in a long time that you’re going to play with your friends, natively, all through the whole experience. And that makes it a lot more fun nowadays, there are a lot of players out there who really want to play with their friends, so we’ll hopefully give them that,” Aaron Flynn said in the interview.

Anthem is currently being developed for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the launch is scheduled tentatively for the end of 2018.
